Join us for the annual Be Beautiful Be Yourself Fashion Show. The fashion show is largest fundraiser for Down syndrome in the nation and attracts over 1,100 guests each year. It has raised more than $7,600,000 for Down syndrome research, medical care, advocacy and education. Equally important, it has raised major awareness regarding the shocking disparity of funding for people with Down syndrome, while successfully emphasizing their abilities.


Be Beautiful Be Yourself Gala – Washington, D.C.

On November 16, 2011, The Global Down Syndrome Foundation held its inaugural Be Beautiful, Be Yourself Gala in Washington, D.C. Gladys Knight, the Empress of Soul, performed live at the gala at the J.W. Marriott. Washington’s most powerful and influential leaders and professional athletes gathered to support Down syndrome research and advocacy at the Linda Crnic Institute. The Global Down Syndrome Foundation held another DC Gala on May 8, 2013, featuring Sheryl Crow as entertainer. Be Beautiful Be Yourself Hollywood Ball

The first Be Beautiful Be Yourself Hollywood Ball for Colorado’s adults with Down syndrome was held on Friday, June 29, 2012, at the former Landmark Theater, now Red Rocks Community Church‘s Littleton Campus. The glamorous night of dinner, dancing and awards was well attended by more than 80 people, including 65 people who happen to have Down syndrome, and it has now become an annual event. World Down Syndrome Day

The idea of a World Down Syndrome Day began when Dr. Balbir Singh in Singapore publically called for a day in which people with Down syndrome would be celebrated and advocated. Soon thereafter, Stylianos E. Antonarakis, a renowned scientist and Down syndrome researcher, formally proposed March 21 as World Down Syndrome Day to Down Syndrome International. Read more about this event in Denver and at the United Nations in New York City.
