Down Syndrome Association of Peterborough
Deb Reid is Executive Director of the Down Syndrome Association of Peterborough in Ontario, Canada. She joined the organization 12 years ago. She came to the organization as a fundraiser to grow the organization from a new parent group program to what it is today.
She has expanded programs to include recreational and social programs, support programs for new families, life skills programs for adults, conferences and workshops, an academic Summer School program and an overnight respite program at our facility. The Summer School program is in its 8th year and children from all over the province attend for a three week period.
The organization receives no government funding and relies on grants, private and corporate donations, as well as special event fundraisers. It is also the only organization in Canada that hires staff, office space and provides programs and services to families, educators, medical professionals and the community.
