The Global Down Syndrome Foundation provides fundraising, education, awareness and government advocacy for the Anna and John J. Sie Center for Down Syndrome, the medical care center for the Linda Crnic Institute for Down Syndrome.

The Sie Center opened its doors to patients with Down syndrome from all over the world and the US in November of 2010. It is located at the Children’s Hospital Colorado, (ranked among the top ten in the nation by News & World Report 2021) where there is a spectrum of experts to draw from.

Most importantly, the Sie Center is comprised of a multi-disciplinary “Dream Team” of experts with more than 80 years of combined experience in caring for children with Down syndrome and developmental disabilities. The Crnic Institute Director Joaquín Espinosa manages the Dream Team, including the Sie Center Medical Director Dr. Francis Hickey, Senior Physical Therapist Patricia C. Winders, and Program Director Dee Daniels.

The Sie Center provides the highest quality of comprehensive care to children with Down syndrome and support for their families – from the prenatal phase of life, through childhood and adolescence, up to the age of 21. Its experts coordinate medical care (including tapping into other outstanding clinics at the Children’s Hospital Colorado), speech, physical and other therapies, and educational support in order to ensure the best possible care for each child and adolescent with Down syndrome. It also serves as a resource for families and primary care doctors by providing up-to-date information and support to parents who have received a prenatal diagnosis of Down syndrome.

Anna and John J. Sie Center for Down Syndrome at Children's Hospital ColoradoThe Sie Center is committed to contributing and updating evidenced-based health guidelines for people with Down syndrome. As part of the Crnic Institute, the Sie Center will actively participate in clinical research that will provide important evidence to what diseases or conditions people with Down syndrome are more susceptible to or protected from. Equally important, the Sie Center will advocate for research that provides evidence-based results regarding what medications or strategies work best for individuals with Down syndrome.

The Anna and John J. Sie Center for Down Syndrome was inspired by the birth of Anna and John J. Sie’s grandchild, and partially funded through an endowed fund established by the Anna and John J. Sie Foundation. The Sie Center is a clinical care center that provides the best medical care and evidence-based clinical research for people with Down syndrome. The Sie Center is without political or religious affiliation or intention.
