Kaye Kolker Baumgardner’s expertise is broad, including the treatment of these disorders: Orofacial Myofunctional Disorders (OMD), medically based feeding disorders from infancy through teenage years, dysphagia, apraxia, dysarthria, muscle-based oral motor difficulties impacting feeding and articulation disorders, and receptive-expressive language disorders. She works with infants who have difficulties breast or bottle feeding.

She graduated from Illinois State University in 1994 with a Master’s Degree in Speech & Language Pathology. She holds her certificate of clinical competency through the American Speech Language Hearing Association and is licensed in the state of Minnesota.

She is a Certified Orofacial Myologist and an active member of the International Association of Orofacial Myology (I.A.O.M.), and holds the level 4 Talk Tools Certification.

She is a member of the Down Syndrome Medical Interest Group-USA (DSMIG-USA), National Down Syndrome Congress (NDSC), Down Syndrome Association of Minnesota (DSAM), Minnesota Speech Language Hearing Association (MSHA), American Academy of Private Practice Speech-Language Pathologists and Audiologists (AAPPSPA), and International Affiliation of Tongue Tie Professionals (IATP). She is also a member of ASHA’s Special Interest Group Division 11 on Dysphagia and Division 5 on Speech, Speech Science, and Orofacial Disorders.

She is the Secretary for the Down Syndrome Association of Minnesota Board of Directors and speaks regularly at local parent groups and regional conferences on Down syndrome and has had two publications in the Newsletter of the National Down Syndrome Congress.

She has received four ACE Awards from ASHA for lifelong learning and has years of experience evaluating and working with children who have muscle-based and sensory-based feeding disorders. In addition, she is trained in PROMPT level 1, Beckman Intervention and Assessment, and Kauffman apraxia techniques.
