Stephanie Neri is the mother of two adult daughters. Her younger daughter, Julia, is 20 and attends Harper College in Palatine, Illinois. Julia has Down syndrome.
Neri is passionate about setting high expectations, and the importance of community belonging in developing social capital. She has spent her daughter’s formative years using her outgoing personality to advocate in a variety of ways, including serving on the board of the National Association for Down Syndrome, the Illinois State Board of Education Alternate Assessment Committee, the Northwest Suburban Autism Consortium, and as chair of the District 54 Exceptional Child Committee. She currently serves on the board of United Parent Support for Down Syndrome and is a regular writer and contributor to various publications.
Neri resides with her husband and daughters in the northwest suburbs of Chicago.
