The Global Down Syndrome Foundation’s 2022 Be Beautiful Be Yourself Denver Fashion Show was held November 12th at the Sheraton Downtown in Denver Colorado. The Foundation presented the Quincy Jones Exceptional Advocacy Award to Actor and Activist Eric Dane. Micah Quinones was featured as the Global Down Syndrome Foundation’s 2022 Ambassador. The program highlights included model, actress, and Down syndrome parent Amanda Booth, iconic actress Christina Ricci, the kind and funny actor Josh Peck, Greys Anatomy actress Caterina Scorsone, plus many more.

An amazing lineup of celebrities and advocate models rocked the runway at the 10th Anniversary Be Beautiful Be Yourself Fashion Show, the single largest fundraiser for Down syndrome research in the world.

DENVER: Be Beautiful Be Yourself 2016 Chair Maureen Regan Cannon, along with Kick-Off Chairs Sharon Magness Blake & Ernie Blake and past chairs Anna & John J. Sie, Sharon Magness Blake & Ernie Blake, Ricki Rest and Nancy Sevo, hosted a kick-off party in Denver with a brief program to jump start the fundraising for this year’s marqee event. The party featured self-advocates as well as other notable Global supporters from the community. NEBRASKA: Global’s 2016 Ambassador Louis Rotella IV and his family, along with 2016 Chairs Maureen Regan Cannon & Reynolds G. Cannon, hosted a kickoff for the Be Beautiful Be Yourself Fashion Show in Omaha, Nebraska on April 20. Global President and CEO Michelle Sie Whitten, and Dr. Joaquín Espinosa, Associate Director of Science at the Crnic Institute for Down Syndrome, presented a brief program to the attendees.

The highlight of the evening is the Models who rock the audience as they strut their stuff down the runway. The models happen to have Down syndrome, and represent both our challenges and our hopes. Jamie Foxx, Quincy Jones, John C McGinley, Chauncey Billups, George Dixon, Chauncey Billups, Kim Christiansen, 2011 Miss Colorado Diana Dreman, David Duval, Beverly Johnson, Ed McCaffrey, Peggy Tanous, and Billy Van Heusen are some of the many celebrities and special guests that support Globals mission.

Global Down Syndrome Foundation’s 2010 Be Beautiful Be Yourself Jet Set Fashion Show, a fundraiser for the Linda Crnic Institute for Down Syndrome at the Anschutz Medical Campus. The Global Down Syndrome Foundation has supported critical and groundbreaking research, launched three service programs, two conferences, and in December of this 2010 co-hosted the first Down syndrome registry and bio-bank summit with the National Institutes of Health. In 2010 we are also celebrated the message we are communicating to the world — It’s Time. People with Down syndrome deserve fundamental human rights and you can help.

2009 marks the 50th anniversary of identifying the genetic cause of Down syndrome. To celebrate this historic discovery, the Global Down Syndrome Foundation organized the Be Beautiful Be Yourself Jet Set Fashion Show to raise critical funds and awareness for the Linda Crnic Institute for Down Syndrome at the Anschutz Medical Campus. And do we have reason to celebrate! With the invaluable help of our 18 fabulous Co-Chairs led by Anna and John J. Sie and Ricki Perry Rest and David Rest, we are proud to have sold out at over 1,200 seats. Attendees included supporters from the UK, Canada, China, New York, Los Angeles, Washington D.C., San Diego, Kansas City, Santa Fe, Cincinnati, Miami, Memphis, Salt Lake City, and Phoenix — making the event truly international.
