Happy March and Happy World Down Syndrome Day! Looking back it is hard to believe that not long ago…

…it was a common practice to deprive children with Down syndrome from receiving life-saving medical procedures.

…the average lifespan of a person with Down syndrome was 28 years old.

…most people with Down syndrome were relegated to live a truncated life in inhumane institutions.

Today people with Down syndrome are living at home, attending their local schools and because they are provided medical care, their lifespans have doubled. But so much more needs to be done. In order to give people with Down syndrome a fighting chance the Global Down Syndrome Foundation still needs to:

•  Replace outdated medical care guidelines

•  Educate medical professionals

•  Provide training for teachers

•  Increase research funds that will improve medical outcomes

•  Fight discrimination at every level

Your gift of $21, $321 or any amount will help us achieve these goals. Please give today.

There are an estimated 6 million people with Down syndrome in the world. Help us make a difference for them!
