Since Down syndrome is the least-funded genetic condition in the United States, fundraising and government advocacy to correct the alarming disparity of national funding for people with Down syndrome is a major goal.<\/p>\n<p><em><a title=\"Read more about us\" href=\"http:\/\/www.globaldownsyndrome.org\/our-story\/about-gdsf\/\">Read more about us<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n<hr>\n<h2>Our History<\/h2>\n<p>In 2006, <a title=\"John J. and Anna Sie\" href=\"?page_id=1038\">John J. and Anna Sie<\/a>&nbsp;organized a summit gathering some of the world\u2019s best scientists, including Nobel Laureate Tom Cech, to explore the possibility of break-through research for people with Down syndrome.
