Mom Uses “My Sister’s Story” to Teach Son About Down Syndrome
Shortly after her daughter was born with Down syndrome, Becky Carey wanted to explain to her older son why his baby sister was different from and at the same time like him. Carey put together a series of cards written in simple language with drawings, so that 7-year-old Casin could understand the idea of an extra chromosome causing Down syndrome in Tessa and other babies like her. This YouTube video of Carey explaining Tessa to Casin has had almost 11,000 hits.
