Toys R Us Guide Features Girl with Down Syndrome and Nancy O’Dell
For nearly two decades, Toys R Us has released an annual catalog of toys that are specifically chosen for differently-abled children, and this year’s publication shows off Saskia Vogt, who has Down syndrome, aside TV host Nancy O’Dell.
“Growing up, my best buddy was my Aunt Ellen, who was born with Down syndrome,” says O’Dell, who is co-anchor of “Entertainment Tonight” on TV. “Because of my memories of her, to this day, she remains my inspiration for promoting inclusion for individuals of all abilities.”
O’Dell is an advocate for those affected by physical, cognitive and emotional challenges through organizations like Best Buddies and the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
The Toys R Us Toy Guide for Differently-Abled Kids, which was released last week and is available in stores and online in both English and Spanish, highlights nearly 100 toys that have been selected in partnership with the National Lekotek Center to assess their play value for children with different challenges.
The Toys R Us site also includes cover images from previous catalogs.
Thank you to all companies that embrace the beauty of diversity!
