Heather Garcia Joins Global Down Syndrome Foundation as Director of Health & Wellness Programs
Denver (June 4, 2014) – The Global Down Syndrome Foundation is pleased to announce Heather Garcia as its new Director of Health & Wellness Programs.
Garcia joined Global in May 2014 and manages the health and wellness programs serving children and adults with Down syndrome, including the Dare to Play Football Camp with Ed McCaffrey, Global’s Denver Broncos Cheerleaders Dare to Cheer Camp, the Dare to Play Soccer Camp with Regis University and the Colorado Rapids, the Be Beautiful Be Yourself Dance Class with the Colorado Ballet, the Be Beautiful Be Yourself Fitness Class with Pure Barre and the Global Down Syndrome Educational Series.
Before joining Global, Garcia was the Development and Donor Relations Manager for Kroenke Sports & Entertainment and Kroenke Sports Charities. She was responsible for annual social events and camps, including the Colorado Avalanche Charity Brunch and the Mile High Dreams Gala. Garcia earned her bachelor’s degree in marketing from the University of Colorado’s Leeds School of Business.
Formally established in 2009, Global is a public non-profit 501(c)(3) dedicated to significantly improving the lives of people with Down syndrome through research, medical care, education and advocacy. Global has the primary focus of supporting the Linda Crnic Institute for Down Syndrome, including the Sie Center for Down Syndrome at Children’s Hospital Colorado.
