Todd Park Mohr to Perform at 2013 Be Beautiful Be Yourself Fashion Show

 

WHAT: Global Down Syndrome Foundation’s Be Beautiful Be Yourself Fashion Show is the world’s single-largest fundraiser benefiting people with Down syndrome. The event features models with Down syndrome, music icon Quincy Jones and celebrities including actor John C. McGinley, supermodel Beverly Johnson, HLN anchor Kyra Phillips, and Fox News anchor John Roberts.

WHO: Singer, guitarist and songwriter Todd Park Mohr will perform at the event.  Mohr is the lead singer, guitarist and songwriter for the rock band Big Head Todd and the Monsters (BHTM). Founded in Colorado in 1986, BHTM catapulted into the national spotlight with chart-topping singles and engaging live shows. With excellent songwriting, scorching guitar and fearless genre melding, BHTM has sold over 3 million albums. The band’s last release was 2011’s “100 Years of Robert Johnson.” The band recently recorded a new studio album in Chicago, set for release in 2014. This summer BHTM headlined the inaugural LP Tour.

WHEN: Saturday, Sept. 28, the Global Down Syndrome Foundation’s 5th Anniversary Be Beautiful Be Yourself Fashion Show begins at 5 p.m. with a cocktail reception and silent auction. At 6:30 p.m., 1,200 attendees will enjoy dinner, a star-studded fashion show featuring models with Down syndrome and a celebration of the Global Down Syndrome Foundation’s past five ambassadors (Sophia Kay Whitten, Chase Turner Perry, Katherine Vollbracht Winfield, DeOndra Dixon, and Samantha Marcia Stevens). Mohr’s performance will close out an entertainment-filled evening.

WHY: Down syndrome is one of the least-funded genetic conditions by the National Institutes of Health. The Be Beautiful Be Yourself Fashion Show aims to change this by providing critical funds for medical care, research, education and advocacy for people with Down syndrome.  Last year’s event raised $1.5 million. Proceeds support the Linda Crnic Institute for Down Syndrome on the Anschutz Medical Campus, groundbreaking research on Alzheimer’s disease and Down syndrome, and the Sie Center for Down Syndrome at Children’s Hospital Colorado.
