Global Down Syndrome Foundation’s Be Beautiful Be Yourself Dancers to Perform in Colorado Ballet’s “Nutcracker”
WHAT: Two dancers from the Global Down Syndrome Foundation’s Be Beautiful Be Yourself Dance Program will perform in the Colorado Ballet’s holiday classic “Nutcracker.”
The Colorado Ballet is a partner with the Global Down Syndrome Foundation (“Global”) in the Be Beautiful Be Yourself Dance Program, along with the Sie Center for Down Syndrome at Children’s Hospital Colorado. The program is sponsored by the Melvin and Elaine Wolf Foundation. The Be Beautiful Be Yourself Dance Program teaches ballet movement, music appreciation, rhythm and basic dance steps to children ages 5-14 who have Down syndrome. WHO: Ashlyn Logan is a vibrant 13-year-old who loves to dance and cheer. She has been dancing since age 3 when she began to walk. She has participated in the Be Beautiful Be Yourself Dance Program since 2010. She is also a member of Global’s Junior Denver Broncos Cheerleaders Dare to Cheer Program. She is on the honor roll at Thunder Ridge Middle School, where she is mainstreamed into the 8th grade.
Daniel Walshe is a 9-year-old from Denver who has been a part of the Be Beautiful Be Yourself Dance Program since 2010. He is a third-grader at Stanley British Primary School, swims competitively, enjoys skiing and is a yellow belt in taekwondo. Daniel also participates in Global’s Dare to Play Football Camp with Ed McCaffrey and Global’s Dare to Play Soccer Camp with the Colorado Rapids and Regis University Men’s Soccer Team.
