About the GLOBAL DC Fly-In

About the GLOBAL DC Fly-In

GLOBAL was established, in part, to change the fact that Down syndrome was the least funded genetic condition at our National Institutes of Health (NIH) for nearly two decades. To this end, since 2009, GLOBAL has been organizing Congressional Briefings and DC Fly-Ins, and supporting Congressional Hearings.

The results have been astounding with GLOBAL leading the passing of the first Down syndrome-specific legislation that has appropriated over $440 million for NIH Down syndrome research and medical care since 2018. In that year, we successfully advocated for the establishment of the first trans-NIH Down syndrome research program called the INCLUDE Project.

What People Are Saying
Erin Suelmann
We were so pleased that our Representative Ann Wagner signed up to cosponsor for the DeOndra Dixon INCLUDE Project Act on the spot! My brother Andrew played a key role in our meetings, and we are energized by GLOBAL’s leadership and the
momentum they have built.
