We sincerely thank our Event Chair Peter Kudla and our entire committee. A special thanks to hosts Ken and Trish Green. Nearly 150 supporters attended the event including scientists from the Crnic Institute – Drs. Tom Blumenthal, Joaquín Espinosa and Huntington Potter. Also attending were past Chairs Ricki Rest, Anna and John J. Sie, and many from our Leadership Circle, Sponsors, Event Committee Chairs and Members, and our new friends who have a heart for the differently-abled and a passion for social justice.

Be Beautiful Be Yourself 2016 Chair Maureen Regan Cannon, along with Kick-Off Chairs Sharon Magness Blake & Ernie Blake, and past Chairs Anna & John J. Sie, Ricki Rest, and Nancy Sevo, hosted a kick-off party in Denver with a brief program to jump start fundraising for the Nov. 12 marquee event. The party featured self-advocates as well as other notable Global supporters from the community.

Global’s 2016 Ambassador Louis Rotella IV and his family, along with 2016 Chair Maureen Regan Cannon, hosted a kick-off for the Be Beautiful Be Yourself Fashion Show in Omaha, Nebraska, on April 20. Global President and CEO Michelle Sie Whitten, and Dr. Joaquín Espinosa, Associate Director of Science at the Crnic Institute for Down Syndrome, presented a brief program to the attendees.

It has raised more than $7,600,000 for Down syndrome research, medical care, advocacy and education. Equally important, it has raised major awareness regarding the shocking disparity of funding for people with Down syndrome, while successfully emphasizing their abilities.
